Thursday June 17, 6-9 PM in Asaph’s Chamber

Next meeting Thursday June 17, 6-9 PM in Asaph’s Chamber. Bring your own dinner and a song to share. (Belmont Songwriters Guild meets the 3rd Thursday of the month.)

Message from Casey - Dream and Do

Songwriters,

I wanted to share some thoughts with all of you based on something we did in our last BSG meeting. In our last meeting we broke up into two smaller groups and each person shared their thoughts on two questions:
1. What is a dream/goal for your music?
2. What is an action step that you could take tomorrow that would move you toward your dream/goal?
Based on my own experience, here are four challenges that I believe everyone has to face in order to move toward fulfillment of a dream.

BSG Meeting Plus...

Happy Spring to BSG Songwriters!

Next BSG Meeting
April 15, Thursday night, 6:00pm to 9:00pm, at Asaph's Chamber. Bring your own dinner if you want. We'll fellowship for 30 minutes, probably do another small group breakout for 30 minutes, then share songs. As always, our meetings are rich. If you haven't made it back this year, we hope to see you again.

Song Feedback Session
We are trying to schedule a 3-4 hour session to listen to songs with the intent of giving constructive criticism on each song. It can be very enlightening to hear songs receive this kind of evaluation. I may have some industry song managers join us. This will likely take place on either a Sat or Thur night (not a BSG monthly meeting). You will need to sign-up to have your song evaluated. I would like to determine the interest level so please email me if you would like to have a song reviewed in a Feedback Session.

BSG Spring Showcase
We are also thinking about a Spring BSG Showcase. Details to be determined. You will need to sign-up to be part of this. Please email me if you would like to participate in this.
Until I see you next...enjoy your writing.
Casey

Concert with BSG writers!

In case you didn't get the Facebook invite...this will be pretty cool - Casey

Type: Music/Arts - Concert
Date: Sunday, February 14, 2010
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Belmont Church-Koinonia Building

Jesus Loves You. A night of music on Valentine's Day. We figured this would be a good day to remind you.

The line up is as follows.
Adam Hill will be playing tunes from his upcoming album Smoke Trees, an eclectic mix of bluegrass, rock n roll and southern blue eyed soul.

The Lovespies play beautiful, quirky, folk songs about spaceships and time travel. It's all a metaphor for longing. Julie's voice is like Alabama twang mixed with Bjork and her guitar slinging hubby Rob is a classical gas.

Drinkwine is some stone cold Jesus Rock. Jeremy Drinkwine's singing to stadiums voice packs a punch with great songs and drop dead melodies.

Admission is free. A donation will be taken for the Romanian School for Worship and Arts.

First meeting of 2010

Our first BSG meeting in 2010 will include a special guest, Godfrey Birtill, worship leader/writer from Kingsway Music U.K. In addition to hearing Godrey's thoughts on songwriting we will share new songs and talk about BSG plans. This year we hope to have a Fall and a Spring showcase as well as additional meetings specifically for song feedback and special topics like "How to setup your CD for sale on the Internet". Our first meeting is Thursday, February 18, 6-9pm at Asaph's Chamber on the Belmont Church campus. You can bring a brown-bag dinner if you like. I miss everyone and look forward to seeing both old and new friends.

For those of you who have not signed up to be a "fan" at the Belmont Songwriter's Guild page on Facebook, I encourage you to do so. You will get up to the minute info on BSG as well as hear music posted by BSG writers. In the meantime, I will continue to send emails out to this list and to new members who will not use Facebook. Please let me know if you want me to remove your name from this email list.

Happy songwriting.
Casey

Next Meeting Feb 18 Plus Facebook Page Info

Belmont Songwriters Guild members and friends,
Happy New Year! I hope you have all had a refreshing holiday with family and friends. I wanted to give you an exciting update on the Belmont Songwriters Guild.
Our own Julie Higgenbotham has setup a Facebook page for BSG...thank you Julie! This Facebook page will become the communications hub for BSG info, schedules, updates, and community. I will be loading it with info and our 2010 schedule in the next few days.
There will be no more BSG emails so please be sure to sign up on this Facebook page and check it for updates.
Here's a link to the BSG Facebook page.
I'm not sure my email list is comprehensive, so please spread the word about this new Facebook page to anyone you know who attends or is interested in this group.
Our next BSG meeting will be on February 18, 6-9 pm at Asaph's on the Belmont Church campus.
I hope you all are writing; it is food for the songwriter soul.
Hope & joy,
Casey McGinty

Songwriter’s Guild Sept 17, 2009 – A View of Where Jesus Was Among Us

by karen peterson - thanks! rs

Jesus joined us last night. So much diversity of expression. It was the Songwriter’s Guild and many people shared their new songs vulnerably with the group.

There was Mary*, who tearfully told how crisis had brought her to a critical moment of faith. She trusted us with a gem from her life story. It was precious, costly, and close to her heart. Jesus came near enough to touch her. He reached in and held her heart safe, because He knew how tender it was. His eyes sparkled with delight, because her love for Him was so pure and untainted.
